Samsung announced the Exynos 9611 processor, a new product in its semiconductor portfolio. Going with the configurations, it seems a replica of Exynos 9610 with minor changes. Even, the clock speed is the same, but Camera capabilities appear to be enhanced. The company is likely to jump into the megapixels count game.

At the given price bracket, it directly competes with the Snapdragon 710 and 712 chipsets. Both the Snapdragon SoCs almost share the same specifications with minor changes in clock speed. Hardware and Performance

The Exynos 9610 uses the dual-cluster octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A73 cores pointed @2.3GHz and another 4x Cortex-A53 cores @1.7GHz. The Exynos 9611 speculations suggest the same CPU power, even though we don’t have official confirmation yet. On the other hand, Snapdragon 710 also arrives with the dual-cluster octa-core CPU, where 2x Kryo 360 Gold cores clock @2.2GHz and 6x Kryo 360 Silver cores @1.7 GHz. Indeed, Qualcomm is using the customized Cortex-A75 and Cortex-55 cores under a new marketing name.

Exynos 11 Specs

The Snapdragon follows the same trend with two powerful Cortex-A75 cores clocked at slightly faster 2.3GHz compared to 710, while, remaining six cores are identical as found on SD 710. Without any doubt, Cortex-A75 cores are the latest and more powerful than the Cortex-A73 used on Exynos duo. Ultimately, both Snapdragon 710 and 712 beat the Exynos 9611 and 9610 with a significant margin, at least on paper. Apart from that, all four chipsets are using the 10nm process for power efficiency.

Furthermore, both the Exynos chipsets arrive with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU to manage the graphics-intensive tasks. The Snapdragon SoCs have the Adreno 616 GPU under the hood. Here too, Adreno GPU takes the lead over Mali-G72 if the benchmark tests are believed. Overall, Adreno 616 is more stable and power-efficient compared to Mali-G72 MP3. For memory, LPDDR4X RAM is supported on all processors coupled with UFS 2.1 / eMMC 5.1 storage support.

Camera and Display

The older Exynos 9610 supports up to 24MP single or Dual 16MP + 16MP camera support on both front and rear sides. Here the things can change for the Exynos 9611. Because recently launched Exynos 9611 also arrives with up to 24MP single camera or dual 16MP + 16MP. But it can up to 64MP using different techniques as we have seen with Helio G90T.

Moving further, both Snapdragon 712 and 710 support up to 192MP single camera after compromising in some features and Dual 16MP + 16MP camera support. If we talk about the single-camera, definitely, Snapdragon has the edge over the Exynos, but dual camera setup gives advantage to the latest Exynos 9611. All the processors are well capable of recording up to 4K Ultra HD videos, But Exynos chip can also record super slow-motion 720p video @960fps.

For display, the Exynos 9610 and 9611 can support up to 1600 x 2520 pixels Full HD+ display panels for larger display devices, which should be 1080p for the smartphone. Here the Snapdragon 700 series has an edge with 1440 x 3360 QHD+ pixels display. We can see sharper displays on the Snapdragon 710 / 712 powered devices compared to Exynos duo.

AI and Connectivity

Without AI, the mobile chip is incompleted. The good thing is that both Samsung and Qualcomm are focusing on Artificial Intelligence, even their mid-range mobile platforms. The Exynos 9610 / 9611 processors accumulate a vision image processing unit based on a deep-learning technology. It can convincingly analyze the images and videos to enhance the overall photography experience and more stable videos as well. The Digital Signal Processor (DSP) also emphasizes to improve battery performance.

Both Snapdragon 710 / 712 use a dedicated AI neural engine called Hexagon 685. The company claims to deliver almost 2x faster performance to its predecessor. The Hexagon 685 DSP supports all the major frameworks, including Caffe, Caffe2, Tensorflow, Tensorflow Lite, and others. When it comes to AI compatibility for Android apps, Snapdragon is the first choice for most of the developers. Because it offers compatibility for more APIs and frameworks to third-party app creators, also, we can see significant improvements in performance either.

For connectivity, all four come with LTE modem integration. The Exynos 9611 and 9610 can offer up to 600 Mbps download, and 150 Mbps upload speed. The Snapdragon 710 / 710 comes with Snapdragon X15 LTE Modem. It delivers up to 800 Mbps download, and 150 Mbps upload speed. All the other essential connectivity options are available on the all.

The Exynos 9611 scores 1,690 points for single-core and 5,540 points for multi-core. The Exynos 9610 brings almost identical 1,680 points for single-core and 5,446 points in multi-core. Moreover, Snapdragon 710 scores 1,899 points in single-core and 5,966 points for the multi-core in Geekbench results. Finally, Snapdragon 712 has a slightly better CPU. That is why it tops the lead with 1,910 points in single-core and 6,000 points in multi-core on Geekbench.

In Antutu, Exynos 9610 scores around 1,51,136 points, while, Exynos 9611 scores are not yet available. The Snapdragon 710 roughly scores 1,66,935 points and Snapdragon 712 has slightly more 1,81,025 points. Overall, Snapdragon 710 and 712 are equivalent to each other; Snapdragon 712 takes a significant lead in Antutu.

    • All because samsung has too many products on market on the other hand Qualcomm only work is to make one thing the RND team is less and that’s the reason if we talk about apple they have the most powerfull chipset beause they don’t have any midrange phones all team work to make only one single chip where that was not the case with Qualcomm and Samsung because they both make Midrange and Flagship chips but again samsung have too many other products to make where else Qualcomm not but if you Compare the Samsung Flagship Chip with Qualcomm Flaship both are pretty good but …now you know the whole story so I hope you understand the things…It’s all about RND single product + whole team = More Power

    One reason, samsung chipsets are optimized for their range of phones
    Where in case with Sd it is not not optimized for any specific phone
