Hardware Performance

The Snapdragon 439 incorporates the dual cluster octa-core processor. It has 2x Cortex-A53 cores clocked @1.95GHz and 6x Cortex-A53 @1.45GHz. Snapdragon 450 arrives with a different concept, where eight Cortex-A53 cores are pointed at 1.8GHz. Coming to MediaTek Helio P22, it has also octa-cote processor with 8x Cortex-A53 cores @2.0 GHz. Last but not least, Snapdragon 665 brings a dual-cluster octa-core chip having 4x Cortex-A73 clocked @2.0GHz and remaining 4x Cortex-53 cores @1.8GHz.

MediaTek Helio P22 Features

Speaking to power efficiency, Both Snapdragon 439 and Helio P22 use TSMS’s 12nm process. Snapdragon 450 with a 14nm node is the least power-efficient chip. The Snapdragon 665 is a built-on advanced 11nm process compared to other competitors. Snapdragon 439, 450 and Helio P22 hold almost similar CPU, whereas, Snapdragon 665 beat them with a significant margin. As far as GPU is concerned, Snapdragon 439 has Adreno 505 GPU and SDM450 has slightly improved Adreno 506 GPU. Helio P22 holds IMG PowerVR GE8320 and SDM665 with Adreno 610 to overcome the competition. Adreno GPUs have a better track record compared to PowerVR. Therefore, we can expect enhanced graphics performance on Snapdragon chipsets.

Moreover, Snapdragon 439 and 450 support LPDDR3 RAM, Helio P22 and Snapdragon 665 are capable of running faster LPDDR4X RAM. Storage capabilities are almost identical on all the chipsets, but Snapdragon 665 has UFS 2.1 faster flash storage support. Considering the hardware, Snapdragon 665 is a clear winner, whereas, the other three can deliver nearly similar performance. In day to day usage, you hardly notice any difference.

Camera and Display

Snapdragon 439 carries a single 21MP or dual 8MP + 8MP camera support on the front and rear sides. Snapdragon 450 can go up to Single 24MP or dual 13MP + 13MP camera. The MediaTek Helio P22 can also support a 24MP camera or dual 13MP + 8MP camera. Finally, the Snapdragon 665 can hold up to a single 48MP camera or combined 16MP + 16MP optics support. It will worth noting that higher pixel count doesn’t mean a better end result, but optimizations matter a lot to capture better shots. Even, most of the smartphones do not utilize the higher pixel count supported by these chipsets. All the chipsets are sufficient offering sharp optics.

Both Snapdragon 439 and 450 support up to 1080 x 1920 pixels Full HD+ display. Helio P22 is restricted to only 720 x 1600 pixels HD+ display. The Snapdragon 665 can also hold 1080 x 2520 pixels Full HD+ display panel. Except for Helio P22, Snapdragon chips are sufficient to run a Full HD+ display.
