Qualcomm launches Snapdragon 720G, 662, 460 chipsets targeting Indian market

Semiconductor market leader Qualcomm unveils three new chipsets dubbed as Snapdragon 720G, Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 460 respectively. The company clearly mentioned that all three chipsets focused on 4G internet connectivity. Moreover, these are the first SoCs to have India’s Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) geolocation services. Currently, most of the Indian smartphone rely on GPS (Global Positioning System, which is a USA based satellite system to track different locations around the world.

If aren’t aware, this isn’t the only location tracker. Russia uses GLONASS, Europe relies on Galileo and China has BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS). To recall, NavIC satellite navigation system was launched in 2016 by ISRO inaugurated by Indian PM Narender Modi. Finally, it is ready for use in smartphones. Besides, India will use NaIC for other purposes such as fighter jets to track the location.
