HiSilicon Kirin 990 SoC officially confirmed to arrive on September 6 at IFA 2019

Finally, Huawei officially confirms that next Kirin chip is arriving at IFA, 2019. Earlier, we have reported, Huawei’s IFA 2019 event to take place on September, 6 in Berlin, Germany. They have also confirmed new SoC to be called Kirin 990 in a separate warm-up video on YouTube.

In a separate report from Techradar, Yanmin Wang, president of Huawei’s Central and Eastern Europe confirms that Kirin 990 will be fabricated at 7nm process and ensure to follow all the 5G standards of 2020 flagship devices. When he was asked whether the new chipset will support USA 5G frequency, that falls between 30-300MHz millimeter Wave range, he didn’t even bother to reply leaving us in suspense.

In addition, Neowin.Net reported that the new Kirin chip is begging support for recording 4K video @60fps, which is a new thing for Kirin SoCs, but Exynos and Qualcomm delivered it long ago. We are expecting the latest ARM Cortex-A77 based CPU and Mali-G77 GPU as the company is too fast to adopt the latest hardware looking at its past track record. The chipset is rumored to bring integrated 5G modem to enhance power efficiency and make it cost-effective. Rest of the specs are still unknown, therefore, we have to wait for the official launch.
