RealMe supposedly working on Snapdragon 855 Plus powered smartphone

RealMe posted on Weibo "Hello, Snapdragon 855+" hinting that they are working on a Snapdragon 855 Plus powered smartphone, however, the company didn't give any clue about the specific device and its launch date.

Qualcomm had yesterday introduced Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, an overclocked version of original 855 coupled with enhanced graphics power. Subsequently, Realme forwarded a message on Weibo hinting that they might be launching Snapdragon 855+ powered smartphone in the near future. The message originally reads “hello, Snapdragon 855+”, making it unclear about the specific device, but this is enough to assume that the company is preparing for a flagship-grade smartphone with top-notch specifications.

Going with the company’s past track record, the company never used Qualcomm 800 series in their devices as RealMe mainly focuses on the mid-range segment. Recently, there were some rumors that the company is working on the 5G enabled headset and Snapdragon 855+ is well capable of supporting the latest 5G technology. However, RealMe isn’t the first company to announce that, Asus Yesterday officially confirmed the arrival of Asus Rog 2 packed-in Snapdragon 855 Plus targeting the gaming lover audience.

The Snapdragon 855+ employs octa-core CPU clocked at 1×2.96 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 485, 4% extra CPU power compared to 855’s underclocked 2.84 GHz higher cluster. The GPU department also gets a 15% boost giving it more power to handle graphics-intensive tasks. The GPU frequency has been increased from 585MHz to 672MHz, while, the rest of the specs are unchanged. Moreover, the company officially confirmed that the Snapdragon 855+ commercially available in the second half of this year.
