Samsung Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10 Plus – Specs Comparison & Quick Overview

Samsung has finally announced its next-generation “Note” lineup and for the first time, there are two Note devices unveiled at the same time dubbed as Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus. The S-Pen also gets some improvements over its predecessor as it comes with accelerometer and a gyroscope to give it eligibility to be used as a motion controller. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support 90Hz higher refresh earlier rumored by some netizens.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 features 6.3-inch 1080 x 2280 pixels Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display on the top of unspecified Corning Gorilla Glass protection, while, the larger Galaxy Note 10+ is equipped with a 6.8-inch 1440 x 3040 pixel Quad HD+ display. Both screens support HDR10+ and Dynamic Tone Mapping for great image quality regardless of content.

Camera

As for optics, both have triple rear cameras, where the main camera has a 12MP sensor, optical image stabilization (OIS) and a dual aperture (f/1.5 and f/2.4), secondary is a telephoto lens with a 12MP sensor and OIS and lastly a 123° ultra-wide-angle 16MP camera sensor. The Note 10 Plus also arrive with an additional ToF sensor to be used for 3D Scanner app to create 3D models of real-life objects. On the front, Note 10 Duo portraits a 10MP center-aligned punch-hole camera for selfies, which is differently positioned than the S10 series, where the camera was aligned on the top-left corner. The operation system department is handled by the Android 9 Pie based on the company’s own custom One UI.

Hardware & Software

Both devices have two different variants when it comes to powering the device; One is powered by the Exynos 9825 tri-cluster octa-core SoC for Global variant, while, the China and USA specific units pack Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 chip. The GPU is Mali-G76 MP12 fro Exynos-powered device and Adreno 640 is for the Snapdragon-powered devices. Both the devices have LTE and 5G variants, but 5G units will be available in limited regions as it is not yet mainstream in all the countries.

Storage & RAM

As far as storage is concerned, The Galaxy Note 10 comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage standard variant, which goes up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage including 12GB RAM for 5G variant, whereas, The Galaxy Note 10 Plus has 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage options. The expandable storage option is available only for the plus model, which helps to expend the storage further up to 1TB using external micro SD card slot.

Battery

The Galaxy Note 10 arrive with 3500 mAh non-removable battery with 25W fast charging support, while, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus has a relatively larger 4300 mAh battery. It has support up to 45W fast charging, but out of the box, only 25W charger is being supplied. If you want to extend the charging capacity, you can buy a 45W fast charger from any reputed brand. Both of these smartphones also support 20W wireless quick charged depending upon the region.

Connectivity and More

Both Note10 models feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and arrive with a pair of USB Type-C earphones in the retail box as there is no 3.5mm audio jack is given on both the devices. The speakers and the and earphones pair is powered by the AKG. All the essential connectivity features are available on these devices such as Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (dual-band), NFC and USB Type-C port for charging. The fingerprint sensor is embedded under the display to unlock these devices safely. Overall, these are new powerhouses as someone would expect from Samsung flagships.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is priced at $949 in the US and €949 in Europe. The Galaxy Note 10+ costs $1,099 and €1,099 for the base variant, which goes up to $1,199/€1,199 for higher 512GB storage variant. All the variants of both smartphones come with Aura Glow, Aura White, and Aura Black. Select markets will also get an Aura Pink version of the Galaxy Note10 and Aura Blue Galaxy Note10 Plus. When it comes to availability, both the smartphones are up for pre-orders in specific countries and sales with start from August 23.
