Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro officially announced in China

Xiaomi has today unveiled its much-awaited smartphone series with Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. To recall, Redmi Note series has been one of the most selling smartphone series ever in the mid-range segments and its popularity is increasing day by day, even after facing some tough competition from RealMe and other Chinese brands. It will worth noting that Redmi Note 8 Pro is first 64MP camera smartphone announced officially by the company.

Redmi Note 8

The Redmi Note 8 uses 6.39-inch 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ LCD panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor coupled with Adreno 610 GPU. As for optics, it has quad-camera setup on the back with 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor + 8MP, 120-degree ultra-wide lens + 2MP depth + 2MP macro lens combination. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera.

The handset packs 4000 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support. It has multiple storage variants including 4GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 64GB storage and 6GB RAM / 128GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via external micro SD slot. The physical fingerprint sensor is embedded in the back, IR blaster on the top and it comes with P2i nano-coating splash-proof to save it against accidental water splashes.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

The Redmi Note 8 is a real beast with a powerful processor for the seamless gaming experience. It boasts MediaTek Helio G90T chipset paired with 800MHz Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU. The rear is surrounded by quad-camera module, where the main sensor is Samsung’s 64MP GW1 sensor coupled with 8MP, 120-degree ultra-wide lens + 2MP depth + 2MP macro lens. It runs on Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10 out of the box.

Further, it adds 4500 mAh non-removable battery with 18W power supplied in the box, but it further provides support for Quick Charge 4+. The device brings three storage variant with 6GB RAM / 64GB storage, 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 128GB built-in storage, which can also further expended up to 256GB via micro SD slot. It has IP52 rated body for Splash resistant and other essential options are available on both the devices such as Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C port for charging.

Pricing and Availability

The Redmi Note 8 comes in Black, Blue, and White color options and it is priced at 999 CNY for the base 4GB + 64GB variant, 1,199 CNY for 6GB + 64GB and 1,399 CNY dor 6GB + 128GB storage variant. On the other hands, the Redmi Note 8 Pro base 6GB + 64GB is priced at 1,399 CNY, 6GB + 128GB costs 1,599 CNY, which goes up to 1,799 CNY for 8GB + 128GB storage variant.

The additional gamepad for Redmi Note 8 Pro can be bought for 179 CNY, 99 CNY for early buyers. As far as availability is concerned, The Redmi Note 8 pro will go for sale on September 3, while, the Redmi Note 8 will start selling from September 17 in China.
