Oppo will launch dual-mode 5G smartphone by the end of this year, says Oppo VP Brian Shen

At the ongoing Qualcomm summit, the company talked about its plans for progressive 5G technology. Christiano Amon, Qualcomm President, in its latest speech at Qualcomm Summit, said that 2019 was the crucial year for 5G evolution. “we are ready to embrace new opportunities. Working together, we will jointly promote the deployment of 5G networks and release more of their potential,” He further added.

Oppo seems to capitalize the moment by adding 5G technology in its upcoming smartphones. Brian Shen, Oppo Vice present, confirms to launch a dual-mode 5G smartphone by the end of this year. In the current scenario, no Qualcomm chip supports the dual-mode 5G, that can work together with both SA (Standalone mode) and the NSA (non-standalone) networking modes. But, Qualcomm is rumored to bring a new mid-range chipset offering dual-mode 5G.

There is no confirmation of whether it would a mid-ranger or high-end phone. Some netizens guessed it to bring Snapdragon 7250 SoC in the comment section. In addition, the company didn’t provide much information regarding the mentioned device as usual. Previously, Xiaomi had also hinted to bring a similar kind of chipset in its forthcoming Redmi K30 handset. We are looking forward to hearing more about this topic!
