Earlier today we have reported a new RealMe flagship to arrive with Snapdragon 855 chipset. Now its key rival Redmi announced they have started producing its 64MP camera smartphone. Lu Weibing, GM of Redmi, writes on Weibo that they have started mass production of 64MP camera smartphone two weeks ago. In the same time, he uploaded a small 10 seconds video revealing further information.

The clip clearly shows the smartphone featuring a quad-camera setup on the back. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show much information about the camera. The camera setup is actually very interesting. The big 64MP sensor is placed in the middle and the three small sensors are covering it from other sides.
Based on previous information, the company has confirmed that they are working on a MediaTek Helio G90T powered smartphone. The only mid-range chipset is Helio G90T that supports up to 64MP camera, therefore possibilities are high that the company will use this chip for its upcoming 64MP camera smartphone. However, the name isn’t yet official, but speculations have it to be called Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Previously, Xiaomi and Samsung jointly announced the 64MP camera, that uses Samsung’s GW1 sensor. It comes with a 1/1.7-inch ultra-large sensor, which is 34% larger than their previous 48MP camera sensor with the average image size to remain about 19MB, and It further supports four-in-one pixel-binning technology. The camera comes with pixel-isolated ISOCELL PLUS technology for high color reproduction, and plenty of other features such as real-time HDR with a wider dynamic range of photos, and clear backlighting.
