Samsung Galaxy S11 may have Exynos 9830, Snapdragon 865 variants and Facial Recognition

Samsung Galaxy S11 series is the latest addition in the company’s “S” lineup speculated to arrive in February 2019. Today, a Twitter user named @maxwinebach from the XDA team, reveals some worthy learnings regarding the S11 series. In his first tweet, he discovered OneUI 2.0 beta support for the Exynos 9830 and Snapdragon 865. It indicates that S11 is likely to employ the Exynos 9830 for international variant. And Snapdragon 865 processor for some specific markets like the USA and China, if the company follows the usual pattern.

In a separate publication, he also found in the Face Service app means that the Galaxy S11 supports face recognition. @MaxWinebach emphasizes that this does not mean that the Galaxy S11 supports 3D face recognition, just that it supports some form of face recognition. Albeit the S10 series has already the same facility, we can see better implementations to its successor.

We have previously seen Mate 30 series to use proper hardware level 3D face scanning. Meanwhile, the company had to yield the full display design by putting a weird notch panel. But the S11 series is unlikely to bring a similar solution as the company has already moved on to a better look.

Based on previous exposures, the Galaxy S11 will support LPDDR5 memory for the first time, along with UFS 3.0 flash memory. Some media reports pointed out that the Samsung Galaxy S11 has entered the internal testing phase. According to the provided information, the US version and Chinese variant will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Meanwhile, European, Korean other global markets will be equipped with the Exynos 9830 SoC. XDA writer also specified three USA 5G variants of S11 carrying model numbers SM-G981U, SM-G986U, and SM-G988-U respectively (hints three variants similarly we have seen in S10 series).

The Galaxy S11 will surely have support for the 5G network. But there is no conclusive evidence available whether the 4G version will arrive or not.  As we have mentioned above, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S11 in February 2020, which will be available for sale in March.
