Qualcomm today officially confirmed to hold the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 in Maui, Hawaii from December 3 to December 5. The event is expected to bring the Qualcomm flagship chip called Snapdragon 865, even though the company didn’t yet finalize its name. Based on previous exposure information, the Snapdragon 865 is based on Samsung’s 7nm EUV process.
The SoC is speculated to arrive with the latest Cortex-A77 cores and a brand new Adreno GPU. We can expect all the latest features one would expect in upcoming high-end phones like LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, improved camera configuration and more. A reliable tipster has pointed out it to arrive in two variants 5G (X55 modem) and without 5G, just like we have seen with Kirin processors. Snapdragon 865 is likely to arrive with a model number SM8250. The internal codenames are “Kona” and “Huracan” (one for 5G variant and another one for the non-5G model).
A device with model number “Qualcomm Kona” was recently surfaced on popular benchmark site Geekbench. Where it managed to score 4149 points for the single-core results and 12915 points for the multi-core results. Compared with Snapdragon 855, the performance of the Snapdragon 865 has been increased by 20% to 30%, and the power consumption is likely to be reduced by 30%. For further information, we have to wait for the official announcement, which isn’t far away!
