Sony Xperia 8 officially lands in Japan with Snapdragon 630 processor

Sony Xperia 8 announced with Snapdragon 630 chipset, 6.0-inch Full HD+ display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Android 9 Pie, IP Rating 65/68, dual rear camera and 2760 mAh battery with fast charging support.

After launching a full-fledged flagship Sony Xperia 5, the company further introduces a new mid-range phone called Sony Xperia 8. It is currently available in Japan without having any words from the company its exposure to the global markets. Considering the price, Sony Xperia 8 is priced at 54,000 Japanese Yen, which roughly converted into 505 US$. It comes in Gray, Black, Orange color options, and will start selling from late-October.

Sony Xperia 8 Specifications

The Sony Xperia 8 features a 6-inch 1080 x 2560 pixels Full HD+ LCD display. The Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection is there to protect the front and rear panel. A full glass body crafts the design. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with Adreno 508 GPU to handle the graphics-intensive tasks. For optics, it sports a dual 12MP, f/1.8 aperture + 8MP, F/2.4 (telephoto lens), 2x optical zoom rear camera. The primary sensor adopts the Electronic Image Stabilisation for stable footage. On the front, Another 8MP shooter delivers intensified selfies.

The handset runs on Android 9 Pie on the top for custom Xperia skin out of the box. As far as storage is concerned, it offers 64GB of internal storage paired with 4GB LPDD4X RAM. The storage can be further expanded up to 512GB via an external micro SD slot. The device packs a 2,760 mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. Additionally, it carries support for IP65/68 certification against water and dust.

It measures 158 x 69 x 8.1 mm, and weight is 170 grams. The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is there for security purposes. All the essential connectivity options are available, including 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual SIM, GPS with GLONASS, and USB Type-C port for charging.
