Xiaomi Redmi 8A with dot-notch display, Snapdragon 439 launched

Xiaomi has today unveiled a new smartphone called Redmi 8A, the successor of last year’s Redmi Note. The smartphone brings a new design with a notch display, even though there are not big changes considering the hardware. To recall, this series belongs to entry-level mobile phones with unrivaled affordability.

Redmi 8A Specifications

The Redmi 8a features 6.2 inches 720 x 1520 pixels HD+ IPS LCD display. The interesting thing is that the front panel is protected by Corning Gorilla 5, which is a great offering considering the price point. The handset is fueled by the same Snapdragon 439 chipset as we have seen on the Redmi 7A. Adreno 505 manages the graphics intensive task.

The Redmi 8A smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10 out of the box. The back is surrounded by a single 12 MP F/1.8 Sony IMX363 camera, but there is no fingerprint sensor. On the front, it carries an 8MP, f/2.0 aperture camera sensor for selfies. Both front and rear cameras can record up to 1080p video. As for storage, it has either 2GB RAM with 16GB storage or 3GB RAM with 32GB of built-in storage, which is expandable up to 512GB via dedicated micro SD slot.

Another key selling point of this device is a massive 5,000 mAh non-removable battery. Unlike the other budget centric smartphone, it carries 18W fast charging support, which is a huge plus point against its current competitors. All the essential connectivity features are available including Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with GLONASS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, IR blaster, FM Radio and USB Type-C Port for charging. The handset measures 156.5 x 75.4 x 9.4 mm and weight is 188 grams. Being a splash-proof device, it can give you assurance to protect from sparse rainfall and other accidental water drops.

Xiaomi Redmi 8A Price and Availability in India

The base variant with 2GB RAM, 32GB storage is priced at Rs. 6,499, which goes up to Rs. 6,999 for the higher variant.
