How To Choose The Right Smartphone For Your Needs

Your decision for choosing a smartphone depends on many factors such as RAM, Processor, Display, Price, and OS. Here is a guide on how to choose the best smartphone for you.

With the countless smartphones available in the market today, it’s no doubt that it’s hard to choose the right one suited for your needs.

Smartphones have become part of everyone’s daily lives. Such devices work as a portable computer in which you can check emails, make calls, watch your favorite videos, get directions, browse through different social media platforms, and so on.

The only thing that’s tough is finding the smartphone that’ll perfectly match what you prefer. Although almost all smartphones, like the Vivo X50, can be a good choice, below are the ways on how you can choose the best and right one for your unique needs:

Choose Between Android And iOS

For many people, the software that a smartphone runs on may be either the end-all or be-all of their phone choice. However, for others, it doesn’t matter. So, if you’re particular with the operating system that a smartphone has, make sure to choose between Android and iOS.

Most apps, like Spotify and Facebook, work on both and each provides the same fundamental features, allowing you to do everything you’d want on modern-day smartphones. With that said, if you’re searching for a more customizable operating system, Android smartphones are best for you because iOS limits what users can do and what apps are only allowed. Thus, in Android devices, the options for apps are massive.

Processor And RAM

The processor is called the brain of the smartphone, which processes every task. Snapdragon is the market leader when it comes to the smartphone industry. If you want a basic functionality you can go with Snapdragon 400 series processor, for the mid-range category Snapdragon 700 series is there and for a flagship smartphone, you should see Snapdragon 800 series.

Snapdragon 730G, Snapdragon 720G and Snapdragon 865 are widely used processors for Android phones. Meanwhile, Apple is currently using the A13 Bionic chip, which is supposed to be one of the fastest chipsets on any smartphone. It solely depends upon your usage, but you should at least go for Snapdragon 730 series for a stable performance. But if you want the best in class experience, Snapdragon 865 or 865+ is there.

If you’re going to use your smartphone solely for games, it’s best to choose a device with high RAM capacity and a fast processor.  However, if you’ll just use a smartphone for basic tasks, like sending messages and browsing, a device with 2GB of RAM may be enough.

Screen Size And Display Quality

The screen sizes of smartphones these days are getting bigger and some even reach up to 6.9 inches. Although it’s not a bad thing, it would be best to choose a smartphone with a 5.7-inch screen size so you can immerse yourself in media and games.

As far as display quality is concerned, you may choose between AMOLED and LCD. AMOLED displays have variants like Super AMOLED or OLED, which are known to offer darker blacks and better contrast.

For resolutions, there are various options you may consider, which may include FHD and QHD. These resolutions provide crisper images and the difference between both isn’t too jarring.

Storage

Today’s standard internal storage is 64GB on low-end models and flagships often have 128GB to 1TB. With the different apps or technologies, you might have to use in the future, choosing a smartphone with adequate storage is important.

Although you don’t need to settle with a smartphone that has the highest internal storage, pick the one that’ll give you enough storage for your apps, images, videos, and so on.

Camera

Nowadays, smartphones with multiple cameras are a norm and it’s rare to find a device that comes with a single rear camera. Usually, you’ll get a primary lens that sports a high MP count, wide-angle shooter, and a portrait lens. Some manufacturers may also add a few extras, such as a macro lens, color filter lens, and Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.

When choosing a smartphone, know that high MP count on cameras doesn’t always mean great images because the sensor size is more essential to produce good photos. So, choose a smartphone with great sensor size and will guarantee crispier images.

Design

When choosing a new smartphone, a major decision is your personal taste. In terms of design and functionality, some individuals prefer a sinuous design and rounded lines, while others want a smartphone with a sturdier look, like the ones with sharp metal edges.

Unfortunately, most smartphones these days have a similar look, so your choice may be strongly influenced by other mobile app features, like a unique functionality that some devices don’t have.

Battery Life

When it comes to battery life in smartphones, the golden rule is more than 6 hours of screen time. Smartphones with higher capacities may allow heavy-users to power through. Some mid-range phones and flagship phones may reach 8 to 10 hours of screen time, which is excellent.

Depending on your needs, choose a smartphone that’ll last for at least a day. You may check the battery life of smartphones by reading reviews or researching about the battery power-saving modes the device has.

Price And Budget

Your budget and the price of smartphones are essential factors when shopping around. The good news is that there are many viable and new alternatives that are priced competitively to suit your budget.

Just make sure to stick within your budget and choose quality over price. If possible, stick with a smartphone that offers great value and exceptional features at a reasonable price.

Conclusion

Choosing the right smartphone may be a little overwhelming as you might be bombarded with plenty of options. But it doesn’t have to be challenging since it’s only a matter of knowing your priorities and options available in today’s market.

As long as you know your needs and you consider those factors above, you’ll be able to pick what’s right for you!
