Update: Sony officially confirmed to release this smartphone on October 25 priced at 143,000 JPY, which roughly converted into 1,320$. It has nearly the same internals as found on standard Xperia 1 smartphone.
Sony Xperia 1 was introduced earlier this year in February month. Now, the company seems to upgrade the current smartphone. Freshly discovered a new model “J9150”, which shows the presence of Sony Xperia 1 Professional Editon. It has been found in the list of compatible models in the Google Play store. Besides, there are currently three models of Xperia 1, namely J8110, J8170 and J9110 being sold in the different markets.
Although the existence of Sony Xperia 5G-compatible prototype has been confirmed at MWC 2019, it is too unlikely to be called as “Professional Edition” for a 5G-compatible model. The current naming scheme suggests some hardware upgrades, even though we don’t have any information available regarding its core configurations.
Speaking to the Xperia 1 specs, it features a 6.5-inch 1644 x 3840 pixels OLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box. The handset sports a triple 12MP rear cameras and a single 8MP front-facing shooter. It packs a 3,330 mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast charging support. All the essential connectivity options are available. Overall, it is a full-fledged flagship device from the company.
